Coming January 27th, look for the first book in the Tumbleweed, Texas miniseries from Love Inspired!
I was blessed to be invited to write Book One in this fun, uplifting series set in a small Texas town. The Coach's Secret Child is a secret-child story featuring a lovable little girl who has everything she needs in life… except a daddy.
How do these multi-author book series work? In this case, the editorial team at Love Inspired created a “series bible” setting forth the character names and ages, businesses located in the town of Tumbleweed, and the basic tropes for each book, like “secret baby” or “grouchy vs. sunshine.” Then it was up to the authors to flesh out the overall series and write our individual stories.
We got to work, creating a map of Tumbleweed, adding details to the skeleton outline, and consulting each other as we wrote our books. Tina wanted the town patriarch to have a thing for pecan pie, so we all added that detail to our books. I needed a daycare center, so “Tiny Texans” got added to the map. And so on. When we ran into a question or wanted to make a bigger change, we consulted our editor, Melissa Endlich, who made the final decision (usually an enthusiastic “yes”).
We were all excited as the titles, blurbs, and covers started dropping into our inboxes. And here we are, almost at publication day for book one–my book, The Coach's Secret Child. I hope you'll enjoy reading the series just as much as Tina, Mindy, Jill and I enjoyed writing it!
